That was the game changer, decided to use all thermal. ridges were not aligned for that.

Peter 30.05.2024 23:33:38

Well done, all together!

Thanks for this very nice flight together. Here some pictures:   In the same lift with Brad Shot64.jpg - Shot64.jpg

Great flight today! Congratulations, Peter, on a wonderful result! And Dave, you did well too, congratulations to you for your patience...saw that low spot on you barogram! ;-) That was such a fun flight I may have to try it again when I don't have to worry about getting back to work. Looking forward to the next task in Norway soon.

David 28.05.2024 22:36:37

  I was

today as well

I have started TeamSpeak now, but I'm busy in the garden

David 28.05.2024 17:05:58

 Try team speak?

Brad 28.05.2024 08:14:07

I like the multi-player route, I look forward to it. Thank you, Peter.

Peter 28.05.2024 05:29:23

No, we use AlpsE, I only made a new map (for pda and the flight plan)

David 28.05.2024 04:40:53

We replace Alps E with the new one?

David 28.05.2024 04:38:50

I can connect ,but I only tried the self test. I assume I can.

Peter 27.05.2024 23:03:24

Here my suggestion for the multi player flight. First I made a new map for AlpsE, I use a printed version of the flight plan for navigation and like the relief map (maps-for-free.com) very good. But I learned in the last flights, that there is no water, and water (lakes and rivers) are very good navigation helpers. So I experimented a little bit today and got a new map named "ReliefAndWater", downloadable on "Landscapes". It's the "old" relief map added lakes and rivers, not perfect, but good enough it seems.

Then I calculated what we should fly. To beat my LS4 flight with the ASW20 needs minimum 222 km in not more than 1:30 h, flying with the Cirrus compared to Brads 170 km flight in 1:22 h needs nearly 190 km in 1:30, using the 222 km flight means a duration of a little bit more than 1:45 h, a usual time we used before. Therefore my suggestion is a 222 km triangle to the North, the course I used with the LS4. The faster planes can stretch it a little bit, the slower can turn a little bit earlier, but it looks good for both Cirrus and LS3 category. And take care of the release point, it may give some km more or less.

The course is not very difficult with a faster plane, only at "Großer Pölven" it's good to take some extra height for to come over the last mountains on leg 2. I guess and hope it's a nice course for a multi player flight, enjoying the Alps and flying together.

@David: Could you connect with teamspeak3 or should we try in the next days?

I have only done a Baby flight a little North, so I'm interested in trying something to the North. I am not too set on direction but as you know, I have found myself in the mountains just about every flight! I'm fine with the Southern area as well. I'll just be glad to be sharing the sky with you! ;-)

Peter 26.05.2024 23:25:32

I'm starting to prepare Thursdays multi player flight. I need a Cirrus flight, but David an LS3 flight, Brad already has a flight for all categories and is free in the choice of a plane / category. So I suggest we will fly different planes this time. Nevertheless is it nice to have nearly the same course.

Until now I flew the faster planes to the north and the Baby to the south. Today I tried a not successful Baby flight to the north and had to see that it's no walk in the park either. So for me it's the same if we fly a northern or a southern course and I'm open for suggestions.

I will then create a flight plan we can use.

Peter 16.05.2024 08:16:40

That would be great, Brad

Brad 16.05.2024 06:13:44

Excellent. With this much lead time, and looking at my calendar, I think I can arrange to be there with you! I'll put it on the schedule and look forward to flying with you...and anyone else that shows up. ;)

David 15.05.2024 06:42:40

 very nice

Peter 15.05.2024 06:14:54

Now with working link

Peter 14.05.2024 12:30:02

Here the announcement of the next multi player flight. Links doesn't work in the forum yet, next to do for me, if I find a little bit of time ...
