 Soloed glider in that ship

Peter 09.01.2025 10:29:06

Got your mail, nice glider

Peter 09.01.2025 06:26:28

WW2 training glider sounds like a plane similar to the SG38.
It's a nice region there too

My friend from Eagleville sold his WW2 training glider to Hood River museum up there , some years ago.

I flew out of a field to the north along the Columbia River. I got on Google and researched clubs in Oregon. There was one in Williamette valley , one at Hood River soaring. Another one at Bend ,Oregon ,in the high desert.. I flew out of the Ken Jernstedt airport.

Thanks, haven't flown it yet except a very short test flight. But I looked at every airport. I like especially the western part, nice colours, flat with some smaller hills

David 08.01.2025 19:47:36

flew Cascadia S . Very nice

Peter 08.01.2025 18:34:44

Yes, me too, could have been a nice place to fly, but we have a lot of other nice places too

David 08.01.2025 16:32:17

 Disappointed about that

Good, we have an unanimous decision ;-)

Costa Rica will not be done, I will soon delete the project. I tried all for me acceptable sources for the textures, but all have clouds and the landscape becomes ugly with that. Looks like there are regions always under clouds

The Libelle with water sounds interesting for OneDesign. Let's do it! :)

Peter 07.01.2025 11:02:24

The story with the two guys in Costa Rica sounds interesting. A friend of mine was there last year and liked it very good. Before we moved to Norway we watched a tv series about people moving to other countries. One of the most popular was a guy from Hamburg with his family. They moved first to Texas and they were shown often on tv. Later they moved to Hawaii and last year to Costa Rica, my wife found that on Christmas. That was the initial for my look to that region.

Thanks for your vote. My mind says Cirrus, because it's a free plane, but my heart says Libelle. Let the heart win, so Libelle will be the OneDesign plane 2025, ballast will be allowed to fly it in standard class configuration (only 50 l water). I'm sure it's a good decision ...

Costa Rica is a great place. The weather on the Atlantic side is different than the Pacific. I know two people that moved there. The one guy used to operate canoe liveries here in the summer. He made so much money , he would not work in the winter. But he sponsered kayak trips there at at time.  He lives there now.

David 06.01.2025 18:22:30

Cirrus is good for one design , but my vote is Libelle.

The third of four Cascadia landscapes is done, now the most southern connected to BarronHilton, named CascadiaS. Only CascadiaCS is missing, that will be the region around Seattle and Portland. Before I will continue with the last one, I found an interesting region I will make first, it will be the smallest landscape I ever made until now, ca. 400 x 400 km. It's a country without military since 1949, read a little bit about that country and what I saw motivated me to make it for Condor: Costa Rica, maybe worth a virtual summer trip ;-)

In my post about CascadiaCN I wrote a little bit about the next season. Cascadia will replace the Alps in 2025, that will be unchanged, but OneDesign will be in NewZealand and the flatland tasks mostly in Europe, but maybe some other regions too.

I haven't decided yet which plane I will use in OneDesign in 2025. Favorite at the moment is the Cirrus with ballast, Grunau Baby was it first, but I guess it can be too boring with 11 only Baby tasks. A better plane gives more possibilities for diversification in weather settings. I have to decide it this month and I'm still open for other suggestions ;-)
