Task E

David 25.06.2024 16:15:59

Thank you both, Brad you stayed high, very well done.

Peter 25.06.2024 08:01:13

Good Cirrus flight, Brad. Indeed, an interesting tow, maybe a tow pilot with separation anxiety :-D

Brad 25.06.2024 07:35:28

Wonderful K8 flight David, well done!

Peter 25.06.2024 06:02:38

Very good flight, David, congratulations!

David 23.06.2024 18:22:51

I agree with Peter, I would opt for a flapped ship, but in this case , I don’t know. A great flight for sure

Peter 23.06.2024 08:52:47

Great flight with the ASW20, Brad. I absolutely agree with your comment. The advantage of the 20 on paper is the higher wing load, but if you have to drop water, that advantage is gone. And else the LS3 is the better climber in my opinion. In the conditions of this task I guess a flapped glider is better than a non-flapped glider, so first choice will be the LS3 this time. But we will get new cards in next task

Peter 22.06.2024 18:32:20

It was an answer to Brads post from 19.06., didn't saw it earlier, and didn't saw it is 3 days old

David 22.06.2024 18:18:52

Sorry didn’t see yours. Referring to Brads flight.

Peter 22.06.2024 17:05:25

Thanks, the Ventus flights (I tried two) were very interesting. Flew that plane first time after 2 years. Could take and keep full ballast the whole flight. It's an amazing climber. The LS3 too, but I had to drop 20 %. Last flight was with ASW15, no ballast but very very difficult. So variation has maybe a big influence to the result.

Saw Brads ASW20 flight, for sure not a lucky one. Very difficult over the high ground in Norway. You said I shouldn't appologize, but I'm sorry nevertheless

David 22.06.2024 14:55:07

Great effort , must be terrible weather. I’ll see how I do.

David 19.06.2024 15:55:23

Yes it was , great save

Brad 19.06.2024 15:16:42

Just saw the your Ventus flight, Peter, nice one! It looks like you found a good thermal to save the flight on your way home.

Brad 19.06.2024 15:13:34

Thank you, it was a wandering flight. :-)

David 19.06.2024 01:14:39

Good flight with the Cirrus , Brad

Dave 18.06.2024 05:55:37

 Thank you

Brad 18.06.2024 04:56:01

Dave, you made it back home after looking for sharks, nice work!

David 18.06.2024 00:33:57

Had difficulty at the mid point, many clouds had weak or no lift. Best I got on the vario was 4 kts.

Further south I got , the better it was. Still didn’t beat Brad, but not a bad flight.

Peter 17.06.2024 22:37:46

Good flight David, with a good average climb rate

Peter 14.06.2024 15:19:34

Thanks. It's an interesting weather, all my flights with all planes with nearly same points, so very good working handicap

DAVID GEO ROMBACH 14.06.2024 15:12:02

Great flight with the 15. wonderful

Peter 14.06.2024 08:43:05

Here a short video of that nice place from 2019. Our female dog "Gwenny" was born in Elverum and we met her mother in Hamar when she was round about half a year old. "Monty" is our other dog, one year older. On the video she is swimming the first time in her life

Peter 14.06.2024 07:35:29

Thanks, Hamar is the favorite boat harbor for my dogs, because there is a fantastic place for dogs right at the water, where they can run free and meet other dogs. They love it when we travel with the boat to that harbor.  But the reason for me to fly that route is the relief, I only follow valleys because I got a  horrible sinking over the mountains at the first LS3 flight. Constant 1,5 m/s air sinking (+ sinking of the plane) until I was on the ground. It was for sure lee side and shadow side, but with that low wind speed I didn't expected that. It was nothing I could do. I have had the height for the final glide before but landed more than 10 km too early.

Brad 14.06.2024 06:29:23

Another good flight, Peter! This time with the '15, congratulations! It looks like you are fond of visiting Hamar! ;-)

Peter 10.06.2024 19:56:39

We found that place 26 years ago and still love it. Ten years later we moved to Norway, living now 1,5 hours driving from that place. From Germany we needed 15 hours. Life is good here ;-)

Brad 10.06.2024 19:33:34

Nice work with the patio, what a beautiful spot!

Peter 10.06.2024 16:05:24

Yes, done on Saturday, so was home again one day earlier P1003740.JPG - P1003740.JPG

David 10.06.2024 14:55:32

yes , most excellent.  Got patio done ?

Peter 10.06.2024 07:31:52

Thanks. I did two yesterday, the first one was a disaster, with the second flight I'm happy :-D

Brad 10.06.2024 06:03:28

Really good LS3 flight, Peter, well done!

Brad 08.06.2024 16:20:08

No apologies necessary, Peter, the challenge is good. First flight at this location and unfamiliar with the layout, so that helped me get confused. ;-) Will continue to try more flights to make it back home to enjoy the BBQ!

DAVID GEO ROMBACH 08.06.2024 15:45:56

almost got it though. I think im going to use a familiar landscape when i do mine.

Peter 08.06.2024 08:44:26

Very unlucky with your flight Brad. I remember the blinking lights at the airports, but haven't seen them a long time. I guess since I use my "new" laptop (2 or 3 years old now?) with much better grafics. Or some changes in the settings, I don't know. Not to have them is ok, but get them at a wrong place is very confusing. I would have done the same "mistake" in the same situation.

Looks like weather settings for both tasks (OneDesign and the usual) are much more challenging than expected. Sorry (a little bit ;-) )

Peter 07.06.2024 15:12:12

a mix of hail and snow, too soft for hail and too hard for snow

David 07.06.2024 14:52:54

 Is that snow ?

Peter 07.06.2024 13:54:52

David 05.06.2024 22:06:48

patio replacement is a lot of hard work , be careful.

Peter 05.06.2024 16:52:05

Thanks, yes I took the 1-26, because I want to fly all planes in this season. The weather conditions match the RL weather at the moment. After being very warm it's now cold. I drive soon to our cottage to replace a patio, it's possible to get snow there, and a lot of rain.

I'm sorry for Brads outlanding too

David 05.06.2024 15:17:19

Both of you did good on the One design and blanic. Peter  , you chose the 1-26 I see . and sorry about your  landout on the One Design. Its quite challenging.

Peter 04.06.2024 05:15:42

Yes, I can't fly my usual Thursday this week. Conditions are in both tasks weaker than in the last tasks, will see what my flights are worth

Brad 04.06.2024 03:55:44

It looks like Peter is at it again, setting the marks to beat! ;-)

Peter 03.06.2024 06:08:09

Thanks and good luck!

Dave 03.06.2024 05:42:36

Nice flight , Peter . Looked real good. I see if I can beat it.

David 31.05.2024 15:49:28

Daytona Beach is very nice to fly from, beaches you can drive on, the famous race, annual motorcycle meeting.....

Peter 31.05.2024 15:39:19
