Task J

Peter 29.11.2024 22:55:52

Wow, what a hard f(l)ight, David. Next month will be better, haven't created the task yet, but tomorrow it has to be ;-)

David 29.11.2024 16:03:42

I will try to finish task j today.

Peter 29.11.2024 08:33:21

Thanks David. Task J is for me first of all to find out if C2 and C3 will be handled fair in the series. This was my first C3 flight with the 1-26, I liked it. I always compare the statistic data in SeeYou, my climb rate was the same like yours, we are often similar in climb rate, Brad's climb rate is usually lower but the speed is higher, so he gets usually very similar results, only flying a different style. So I'm happy with that flight, looks like there was no significant difference between C2 and C3.

David 28.11.2024 23:23:15

Good flight in one design, Peter . You had a headwind too. Tough task.

Brad 24.11.2024 22:53:24

Thank you, Peter. As usual, that first leg is a bit tough to get high, and is the secret to getting a good flight. I got lucky and found a good thermal part-way to the first turnpoint, after having spent time low and at max L/D speeds. Once over the high country, going downwind was fast and bouncing through lift was doable for a bit, but then needed a good climb. Nearing Zell Am See a decision was made to go more northerly due to clouds and time. I am grateful to have that first leg thermal!

Peter 24.11.2024 08:33:04

But now, that was an extremely good flight Brad, congratulations!

Brad 23.11.2024 21:39:06

Thank you, both. I didn't go far enough on my second leg to get a better triangle. The sky and clouds were not cooperating all that much...as you have found out. I was happy to complete the flight.

David 23.11.2024 16:47:46

Great flight Brad , I must say well done.

Peter 23.11.2024 08:52:51

Great flight in the ASW20 Brad, well done!

Brad 17.11.2024 02:54:44

Thank you, Dave. Yes, navigation out of our takeoff site can be troublesome. As mentioned in the Task J Multi-player thread, getting and staying high is key for a successful flight, including improved navigation.

David 16.11.2024 16:06:01

Great flight , Brad , just seen it.

Peter 16.11.2024 15:24:01

Yes, task K is December and January for not colliding flying with Christmas

David 16.11.2024 14:56:17

I didn’t go as far west as I wanted to. Got kinda lost actually. Was supposed to be just a local flight. When I found the airport , I decided to post it. It was about 11 pm and finished about midnight.

David 16.11.2024 14:51:44

Is task K December and January?

Peter 16.11.2024 06:46:45

Great flight, David. This task is not too easy either isn't it?

I will soon create the flight plans for task K and I really promise to make a nice task for the last flight in season 2024. I hope I will succeed with that

Peter 15.11.2024 23:53:04

Thanks, yes it was not easy. I hope I found the right corrections to make C2 an C3 nearly equal

Brad 15.11.2024 23:42:14

Good flight, Peter! Good job to hang on during the last leg to get back home. It's tricky out there!

Peter 09.11.2024 06:58:55

No problem, I blame it on the task setter ;-) But it makes it very difficult to suggest a flight plan for the multi player with the Ka6. Next Thursday I will try a flight with the Pegase, maybe I will know more after that flight

Brad 09.11.2024 00:18:05

Thanks guys. I'm sorry about the result for your initial Alps flight, Peter....it's a bit tricky. And Dave, your OneDesign was decent, given the conditions...widely spaced thermals and lower performance glider. I got lucky with the first thermal and needed all of it to connected to the next one in the foothills. I had already decided to try that direction because it was downwind. The high country made it interesting with not a lot of room between cloudbase and ground. Once in the high country it was necessary to find a climb more frequently than we usually prefer. Sorry, I forgot to take pictures again! :-o

David 08.11.2024 15:34:31

That was a great flight, good speed.

Peter 08.11.2024 08:46:27

Great OneDesign flight, Brad!

David 07.11.2024 22:59:34

Thank you. Was going to Tehachipi, but decided no with the mountains. May try it again later.

Peter 07.11.2024 21:56:57

Nice OneDesign flight, David, much better than my try in the Alps ...

Peter 05.11.2024 18:01:55

Thanks, I'm back in usual mode, started the next landscape, south of CascadiaN ;-)

David 05.11.2024 16:37:58

 Nice job.

Peter 05.11.2024 15:26:40

I can't stop, when I started a task ;-) All servers are running now in Condor 2 and Condor 3

Peter 05.11.2024 09:30:25

There is a new Server VintageSeries24_Special_C3, it runs task J on Condor 3. After that is done I will double the other servers too, maybe one a day

Peter 04.11.2024 23:26:52

Transformation to Condor 3 is nearly done. Adding autogenerated buildings to the landscapes will follow maybe later, because the way it's done today is not my way. Maybe they will change it one day.

So it's time to come back to the series. Is there a good day for a multiplayer flight? Thursdays now 19:30 UTC because european summertime is over.

Tomorrow I will try to update one Server to Condor 3, but if not all have Condor 3 we will fly Condor2

Peter 03.11.2024 16:31:55

Good to hear that. It will become interesting to see, if there are differences between C2 and C3. Task I was much easier in C3 than in C2. Will see how I will control that in the series

Brad 03.11.2024 15:42:58

Thank you. I love mountain soaring....except when you hit those 10-knot+ sink rates! :-o Given the wind direction and speed, and mountain configurations, this is another good challenging task.

David 02.11.2024 16:45:19

Yes that was a good one.

Peter 02.11.2024 08:22:10

Nice explorer flight, Brad. Alps will come to feel like home one day ;-)

Peter 01.11.2024 17:34:14

Servers are running correct tasks now (Condor 2)

Peter 01.11.2024 16:09:13

Forgot to change the tasks on the server, will do it later today

Peter 31.10.2024 23:23:48

Task J is started now
