David 16.06.2025 19:46:50 Either way is ok for me. It’s still difficult. Lol
One thing we can do with that is, that we start on a multi player, meet at one place and start all together the task nearly at the same time and place. Not like sometimes happened that one is towed 10 km to the east and the other one 10 km to the west ;-)
The main reason for that was the current task. For to get a valid triangle you need one leg with min 28 % of the distance, that only works for leg 1 in "Brads super track" if you release close to the start airport or in south west direction of it. If the tug tows you 10 km to north east, you can't get leg 1 with 28 %. In that case you can now fly back to the airport and start there.
Another reason is the SF28, self starting you can decide where you release (stop the engine), with that you can find the best place, and that can be an unfair advantage. Now with spending a little bit of time you can do the same with a glider.
I guess I will start most flights with the usual method (release starts the task), only to save time, but the idea was born yesterday and with max 30 minutes development it was worth the effort. It's only another option ...
Batoh uses Condor tasks where you have to take a start photo at the defined start area for to start the task. We don't do that.
In VS the task starts with release. With the new option you can define another point in the flight to be the start point, instead of the release point. F.x. if you want that the task starts at a mountain but the tug tows you far away from that point, you can fly to that point and start the task there. The only thing you have to do is to remember the in game time and set it into the field in the upload dialog.
Maybe you release at 12:05:45 and fly to your wished start point. You reach it at 12:15:30, then you type 121530 into the new field when you upload the igc file. If you don't do that, your task starts as usual with release
