Very interesting story, David, thanks for sharing

I have a story as well about an Afgan refugee. He is a neighbor. Back in the 80s when Russia invaded Afganistan, at the invite of the President, he  was arrested. He was attending the American University there. The Russians said that the school was a cover for CIA, and that he was an operative. He insisted he didn't even know what CIA is.

He was kept in a soccer stadium. Him and others bribed the guard to keep the gate unlocked . They escaped that night and made way to Paris. The US then brought him to the USA to Indianapolis. He was taught to teach insurance agents to sell insurance. He eventually married an American woman . moved here and has two kids.

During the war in Afganistan he worked for US as an interperter there.

Yes Peter, nice job. Other landscapes? Perhaps to the west of Appalachia , perhaps Ohio, Indiana .

If there is an interesting region in the world, please ask. To make a landscape is usually done quickly, if there are not a lot of airports. That one took only 3 days, and maybe 3 or 4 hours of manual work

Wow, nice work, Peter, thank you! I do a lot of virtual traveling with Google Earth myself. Now, I can fly gliders almost anywhere in the world...very cool!

 It’s rugged there.

Thursday I met a guy in the neighbor village, we have had a very nice talk. He moved from Afghanistan to Norway 18 years ago because of the war, and he said, it's a beautiful landscape there and I should visit the country one day. When I came home I started a new landscape "Hindukush", the North East of Afghanistan. It's ready now and can be downloaded from the web side. He is right, it's a beautiful landscape, similar to the region around Colorado and Utah. Of course, it's on the same lovely globe, only different political and cultural systems.

Flying there in Condor is my way to visit the country, knowing that I will not take a trip to that place IRL.
